Working Group on Faculty Appeals, Grievances, and Hearings
and Promotion and Tenure

Charge:

1. To review the current appeals, grievances, and hearings processes, and to make recommendations to the Faculty Senate about improvements, including, but not limited to, the possible addition of an ombudsman office, and the harmonization of Faculty Senate rules for hearings with other relevant policies, including Procedures for Investigating Accusations Warranting Severe Sanctions (referenced in Policy 201) and Research Misconduct Policy 234;

2. To review, in consultation with the Office of the Provost and the Promotions and Tenure Committee, current practices and written guidelines for promotion and tenure procedures and to make recommendations for improvements.
