Plenary Meeting of the Faculty

Faculty Senate Speaker Ed Nikonowicz called the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m. He then called Dean of Undergraduates Bridget Gorman to come forward. Dean Gorman said that the Office of the Registrar had prepared the list of December 2018 undergraduate degree candidates and the names were listed in the booklets distributed prior to the meeting. The totals, by degree, were also listed on the screen. View the slides. Gorman said that since the final grade deadline had not yet passed, the list was being put forth conditionally with an official conferral date of December 30^th. She said no exceptions were being put forward.

University Registrar David Tenney added that about half of the students were graduating early and about half were graduating late. He also stated that there was no need to endorse Latin Honors because those are only calculated at the end of the Spring Semester.

Nikonowicz asked if there were any questions. There were no questions, so Scott Solomon seconded the motion to approve the candidates. The motion was unanimously passed by the faculty present.

Nikonowicz then called Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Seiichi Matsuda to the podium. Dean Matsuda said that the Office of the Registrar had prepared a list of December 2018 advanced degree candidates and the names were listed in the booklets distributed prior to the meeting. The totals, by degree, were also listed on the screen. View the slides.  Matsuda said that since the final grade deadline had not yet passed, the list was being put forth conditionally with an official conferral date of December 30^th. He said no exceptions were being put forward.

Nikonowicz asked if there were any questions. As there were no questions, Nate Citino seconded the motion to approve the candidates. The faculty present voted unanimously to approve.
